Pharmaceutical content operations have been measured largely by what leaders say they intend to prioritize. A new benchmark measures what production teams actually do on the eWizard platform.
The State of the Pharma Content Supply Chain: Benchmarks and Operational Trends Across Organisations, the inaugural report on pharma content operations published by Viseven, analyses 6,856 anonymised workflow activity datapoints from more than 20 enterprise pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. The findings are read against the six steps of the supply chain, from briefing and authoring through reuse, compliance, activation and analytics.
The data was logged on the eWizard content supply chain platform between January 2025 and March 2026 by commercial content teams across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, covering a full 15-month commercial planning cycle. Datapoints were classified by content type, workflow stage and operational category, giving teams an external reference point for operations they would otherwise assess against their own experience. Findings include:
The report argues that these patterns are linked. Content that is not built from pre-approved components sends the same mechanical checks back to the same constrained reviewers, and strength at one stage does not compensate for weakness at another. Structured, pre-approved modules also serve as a foundation for AI-assisted content assembly, which the report suggests may give early modular adopters an advantage as AI takes on a larger role in content operations.
“Pharma has traditionally focused on perfecting each stage of the content supply chain, assuming this would lead to greater operational efficiency. But as brands continue to face delays in bringing campaigns to market, they are beginning to challenge this long-held belief. Many teams recognise that efficiency depends not only on the maturity of each stage, but on how effectively those stages are connected.” — Nataliya Andreychuk, CEO and co-founder of Viseven

The report sets three maturity stages against each of the six supply chain steps and closes with a self-assessment and stage-specific recommendations.
